About Tropical Knights Fencing Club

The Emma Lou Olsen Civic Center is located 6 blocks north of Atlantic Boulevard and 1 block west of US-1 (Federal Highway).  

    

At the corner of NE 6th Street and US-1 there is a Citgo gasoline station and Jets Pizza.

    

  FEES:

One-time registration fee of $5 for Pompano Beach city residents; $10 for all others.

    

Lessons & instruction are $40 per month payable prior to the beginning of each month. 

     

Due to new insurance requirements, all fencers must be registered with and be current annual members of the United States Fencing Association (USFA) and show proof of membership to fence at Tropical Knights Fencing.

On the USFA application, the following information is to be used for TKF club membership:

-- DIVISION:  Gold Coast

-- COMPETITION CLUB:  Tropical Knights Fencing (with the TYPE = Club)

-- COACH:  Norman Katz

-- MEMBERSHIP TYPE:  You may select either COMPETITIVE or NON-COMPETITIVE.  See application page 2 for more information on membership types. 

    

  SCHEDULE:

Every Tuesday evening from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM 

(Except for holidays and circumstances beyond our control.  We will make every attempt to reschedule nights we cannot fence, though we cannot refund fees for missed nights.)

   

  PERSONNEL & STAFF:

Lessons are taught by experienced fencers who have many years of experience and instruction.  We all help each other and teach each other!  This allows everyone to experience different styles and techniques - we teach the basics and encourage creativity.  Everyone has their own comfort levels and abilities - we will bring those abilities to the forefront while developing hidden talents.   Teaching enables a person to analyze the movements from a different perspective and enables them to be a better fencer.

    

  START ANYTIME!

At Tropical Knights Fencing we don't require you to start on our schedule - you can learn how to fence whenever you like!  This is because we instruct individually, pair fencers of similar skills together, and also pair fencers of different skills together.   This allows for the establishment of good techniques and and understanding of offensive and defensive movements, the ability to practice with other students, and the ability to improve one's skills by fencing more experienced students.
